The seven-speed single-clutch ISR transmission was developed as a lightweight, very fast-shifting gearbox for the Aventador.
The Aventador uses a pushrod layout with horizontally mounted dampers, inspired by racing-car design.
Lamborghini quoted a weight of about 229.5 kg for the complete Aventador carbon-fibre monocoque.
The Aventador’s central passenger cell is a carbon-fibre monocoque manufactured at Sant’Agata Bolognese.
The Aventador introduced an all-new Lamborghini naturally aspirated V12 family instead of the architecture that had evolved from 1963.
The Aventador SVJ lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6:44.97 in 2018, setting a production-car record at the time.
By 10,000 units, Aventador production had surpassed the combined total of Lamborghini’s earlier V12 flagships, of which roughly 7,000 had been built over decades.
In September 2020 Lamborghini celebrated production of the 10,000th Aventador.
The Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae was the final series Aventador derivative and a farewell to Lamborghini’s non-hybrid V12 flagship.
The Aventador entered the range in 2011 as the LP 700-4, succeeding the Murciélago as Lamborghini’s V12 flagship.
