Alfa Romeo 4C
Alfa Romeo revealed the 4C concept at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show before launching the production sports car in 2013. Built as an uncompromising, mid-engine driver's car, the 4C served as the halo model that marked the Italian brand's official return to the North American market.
The vehicle was engineered around a central carbon-fiber tub weighing just 65 kg (143 lbs), keeping dry weight under 900 kg in European specification. Power came from an all-aluminum 1.75-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 237 horsepower, mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission sending power to the rear wheels. To maximize road feel and steering precision, Alfa Romeo omitted power steering entirely. Assembled at the Maserati facility in Modena in both Coupe and Spider body styles, the 4C remained in production through 2020.
