Porsche Carrera GT

The Carrera GT was the first series-production Porsche to use CFRP for both the monocoque and the powertrain carrier.

Porsche used a very small PCCC ceramic twin-disc clutch, allowing the crankshaft and centre of gravity to sit lower.

The Carrera GT sends power to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox.

The Carrera GT’s production V10 produces 612 PS and 590 Nm.

The Carrera GT uses a naturally aspirated 5.7-litre V10 derived from Porsche racing-engine development.

On 21 September 2004 a Carrera GT recorded a 7:33 Nürburgring Nordschleife lap, then a road-car benchmark in the magazine test that recorded it.

From 2003 to 2006, 1,270 Carrera GTs were hand-built in Leipzig.

The production Carrera GT made its world premiere on 3 March 2003 ahead of the Geneva motor show.

The Carrera GT concept was publicly shown at the Paris motor show in 2000.

The Carrera GT’s two lightweight roof panels can be removed and stowed in the front luggage compartment.
