Facts
A dedicated Maybach drive mode was developed for the GLS, tuning the powertrain and chassis primarily for rear-passenger comfort.
The Mercedes-Maybach GLS came with AIRMATIC air suspension as standard, while the launch specification offered fully active E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL as an option.
The V8 worked with a 48-volt electrical system and EQ Boost, capable of temporarily adding up to 16 kW and 250 Nm.
The launch GLS 600 4MATIC used a 4.0-litre V8 producing 410 kW, or 558 PS, and 730 Nm.
The Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC was presented in Guangzhou on 21 November 2019 as the first SUV in the Mercedes-Maybach range.
When a door opens the vehicle lowers slightly and an illuminated aluminium running board automatically extends on the relevant side to ease entry.
The Maybach GLS uses the body and core technical architecture of the Mercedes GLS, supplemented with Maybach-specific comfort and trim measures.
A fixed centre console can turn the Maybach GLS into a spacious four-seater, with available folding tables and a refrigerator sized for champagne bottles.
The outer rear seats can electrically move into a reclining position, while climate-controlled massage seating forms part of the model's extensive comfort equipment.
Unlike the regular GLS, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS is configured only with two seating rows to maximize rear-passenger space.
