BYD quoted torsional rigidity of 54,425 Nm/degree for the U9 body structure and a structural lightweight coefficient of 0.95.

BYD stated that the U9's body-control system can lower the centre of gravity to 393 mm on track and raise ground clearance to as much as 145 mm for city driving.

The U9's DiSus-X system actively controls body movement; BYD demonstrated functions including three-wheel driving, vehicle “dancing” and a stationary jump.

In track testing described by BYD, the U9 reached instantaneous lateral acceleration of up to 1.7 g, while the manufacturer quoted a 0.72°/g understeer gradient in the linear range.

At its 2023 supercar-platform presentation, BYD stated that the U9's four-motor e4 system produces more than 1,300 horsepower.

The U9 uses the e4 platform with four independently driven wheels; torque-vectoring control can regulate each motor separately.

BYD first publicly showed the U9 on 6 January 2023 at the launch of its new premium Yangwang brand, presenting it as an all-electric supercar.

The U9 has 12 sets of active and passive aerodynamic devices, including an active rear wing and active diffuser that adjust according to speed.

The U9 uses Yangwang's “Time Gate” design language, combining supercar proportions with futuristic motifs.

During U9 development, Yangwang said it used more than 100 test vehicles to evaluate 96 safety scenarios, including special test conditions devised for a supercar.
