SSC Ultimate Aero

SSC quoted a weight of about 2,750 lb for the Ultimate Aero TT, roughly 1,250 kg.

The Ultimate Aero TT sent power to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox.

The record car’s specification included roughly 1,094 lb-ft of maximum torque.

Power came from a mid-mounted 6.3-litre V8 with twin turbochargers.

The record-setting 2007 Ultimate Aero TT produced 1,183 hp.

For the record the car ran the course in both directions within the required time window to reduce the effect of wind and road gradient.

The record was calculated as the average of two runs in opposite directions and was about 256.14 mph.

On 13 September 2007 the SSC Ultimate Aero set an official production-car speed record in Washington State.

During development the Ultimate Aero was tested in NASA Langley’s wind tunnel, where its stability was studied at speeds well beyond 250 mph.
