Tuthill completes 15-car SCRS run with purple final Porsche 911

Tuthill announced the completion of its SCRS programme on September 30, closing its first limited-run special project after 15 cars. The final example, chassis 15, is a 993-generation Porsche 911-based build finished around a purple theme and fitted with Tuthill's latest 4.0-litre, four-valve air-cooled engine.

The SCRS programme was launched in 2022 as a road-car interpretation of Tuthill's connection with Group B-era Porsche rallying. The company points to the SCRS rally programme it was involved with alongside Prodrive and Rothmans in the 1980s. The modern car was not conceived as a stripped-out machine for short blasts alone. Tuthill described its aim as a 911 that could cover roughly 500 kilometres in a day without fatigue while retaining the light responses associated with earlier cars.

Chassis 15 makes a deliberately distinctive end to the series. Its exterior is Amaranth Purple, with Royal Purple used throughout the cabin. Hebridean tartan appears on the seats, the carbon-fibre components carry a purple tint and orange contrast stitching cuts through the darker palette. Tuthill photographed the last car alongside chassis 01, putting the first and final SCRS together as the programme reached completion.

Earlier material for the SCRS described a 3.8-litre engine. For chassis 15, Tuthill specifically says it has fitted its latest 4.0-litre four-valve air-cooled engine, but the company has not published an output figure in the completion announcement. That distinction matters because the final car should not simply be assigned the specifications of earlier builds.

Completing the SCRS also closes an important chapter in Tuthill's expanding road-car work. Since the project began, the company has added other special programmes including the lightweight 911K and the GT One. SCRS nevertheless remains its first limited special project, and the originally declared run is now complete at 15 cars.
