Saleen has opened reservations for the road-legal S1 Street, returning to a project first shown in 2018. The starting price is $160,000, while a build slot can be reserved with a fully refundable $1,000 deposit.
Saleen's current specification lists 450 hp and 425 lb-ft of torque. The company claims a 3.2-second run from zero to 60 mph and a 171 mph top speed for the street car. These remain manufacturer figures rather than independently verified performance results from a customer-spec production example.
A track-only S1 Race is offered alongside it. That version starts at $250,000 and requires a refundable $2,000 reservation. Saleen lists the same 450 hp output, but claims a 2.9-second zero-to-60-mph time and a 180 mph top speed for the race model.
The more important development is that the S1 Street has moved back into a real ordering process after years of uncertainty. Saleen is best known for heavily reworked Ford performance cars and for the S7, its own mid-engined supercar. The S1 belongs to the latter side of the business: an original Saleen-branded sports car rather than another derivative of a mass-production model.
Opening the order books does not mean customer cars are about to arrive immediately. Saleen's current model and ordering pages do not give a firm delivery date, and the company notes that prices, specifications and delivery estimates may change. After roughly eight years since the S1 first appeared at the Los Angeles auto show, the meaningful step is that prospective buyers can now place refundable deposits against the road car instead of waiting on another concept-stage announcement.
