Ringbrothers' Billie turns a 1965 Pontiac Tempest into a 650 hp GTO tribute

Ringbrothers unveiled its main build for the 2026 SEMA Show in Las Vegas on November 3: a 1965 Pontiac convertible called Billie. It presents as a GTO, but it started life as a Tempest, and the Wisconsin shop spent more than 5,500 hours turning it into a widened, carbon-bodied muscle car with a supercharged Chevrolet V8.

A family car, recreated

The commission is personal. The client wanted to pay tribute to a GTO his mother had once received as a gift. The name Billie is a nod to the GTO's old nickname, the Goat, by way of billy goat.

Five inches wider, without looking it

The headline bodywork change is width. Ringbrothers added 2.5 inches to each side of the fenders and doors, five inches in total, and the brothers' stated aim was for the car to look stock in profile. Gary Ragle of Ragle Design led the design work. The only real clue is a pair of machined inserts down the sides of the hood, which act as spacers so the front fenders could move outward while the hood keeps its stock dimensions.

Carbon fiber is used for the hood, door skins, front valance and rear diffuser. The hood has a wider front section and a wider scoop, the bumpers, grille and tail section were stretched, and the diffuser houses four tailpipes. The paint is a BASF shade named Billie Goat Blue.

LT4 power and a modern chassis

Under the hood is a Chevrolet Performance LT4, the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 crate engine, topped with a Wegner Automotive supercharger cover and front runners. Ringbrothers quotes 650 hp at 6,400 rpm and 650 lb-ft of torque at 3,600 rpm. A Bowler ten-speed automatic with a Speartech controller sends power to the rear wheels.

The body sits on a Roadster Shop Fast Track Stage III chassis with independent rear suspension and Fox coilovers. Braking is handled by six-piston Brembo calipers, and the staggered HRE wheels, 19 inches at the front and 20 at the rear, wear Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.

Inside

The cabin uses 1965 Ford Galaxie seats trimmed in gray and blue leather, a leather-wrapped dashboard moved 4 inches toward the driver and 2 inches lower, with a GTO-style top pad, Dakota Digital gauges and a rosewood steering wheel and shift lever. The original radio stays, with a machined faceplate and Bluetooth added. Defroster vents and speaker grilles carrying the Pontiac logo were 3D-printed.

Billie is on the Gentex stand at SEMA. Nearby, on Ringbrothers' own stand, is Recoil, the 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle the shop first showed at SEMA in 2014.
