Range Rover Sport SV Bespoke Iridescence Edition limited to four

Jaguar Land Rover Japan opened orders on 22 October for the Range Rover Sport SV Bespoke Iridescence Edition. Just four examples are allocated to the Japanese market, with one car assigned to each of four specially developed paint colours. The manufacturer's suggested price is ¥33.5 million per vehicle, regardless of finish.

The name refers to iridescence, the optical effect in which a surface appears to change colour with light and viewing angle. Here that idea has produced four satin-finish paints named Verde, Azzuro, Arancia and Rosso Scuro. There is only one allocation for each colour. Selecting a finish therefore means choosing the sole example of that particular version.

Underneath, this is the Range Rover Sport SV Carbon P635. Its 4.4-litre turbocharged V8 petrol engine uses mild-hybrid technology and develops 635 metric horsepower, or 467 kW, with 750 Nm of torque. An eight-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive remain part of the package. The Iridescence Edition is a bespoke specification, not an announcement of extra power or a different mechanical platform.

The equipment combines carbon-ceramic brakes with a satin-twill carbon-fibre exterior package, 23-inch wheels and carbon-fibre detailing on the seatbacks. Light Cloud and Ebony perforated Windsor leather creates a comparatively restrained interior against the bold exterior colours. A sliding panoramic roof, four-zone climate control and an extensive comfort package underline the Range Rover's luxury role alongside its performance hardware.

Even by the standards of factory special editions, four vehicles is a remarkably small allocation. The Japanese-market project shows how JLR is using the existing SV Carbon as a foundation for highly individual commissions without developing a separate model. The manufacturer has not published a delivery schedule or suggested that this particular four-colour edition will be offered outside Japan.
