Praga says the Bohema lapped Spa-Francorchamps in 2:21.42, setting what the manufacturer describes as a new record for a type-approved road car on road-legal tires. Test driver Aleš Jirásek set the time on August 12 during a Curbstone customer track day.
The run was not part of a planned record program. Praga had brought the Bohema to Spa for customers and guests, then decided after several sessions to see what the car could do. The company says there was no special preparation, the car remained on road tires and other vehicles were sharing the circuit.
Praga says the 2:21.42 lap beats a Pagani Huayra BC Roadster benchmark that had stood for six years. The record wording needs qualification, however. Praga's announcement does not identify an independent timing authority or a formal rulebook governing a road-car record category at Spa, so the claim remains a manufacturer-stated benchmark rather than a separately certified record.
The Bohema weighs less than 1,000 kg and is rated at 700 bhp. Praga also says it produces more than 900 kg of downforce at 250 km/h, which helps explain why a fast, aerodynamically demanding circuit such as Spa suits the car.
Praga published the result on August 20, eight days after the lap itself. Whatever status is assigned to the word "record," 2:21.42 is a concrete performance marker achieved in the less controlled setting of a normal customer track day.
