Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with Manthey Kit breaks Nordschleife record

A Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package and the new Manthey Kit completed the full 20.832-kilometre Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6:55.533. Announced on 7 May, Lars Kern's lap gave Porsche the official record in the circuit's electric executive-car category.

This was more than an aerodynamic add-on package. The Manthey Kit changes the car's downforce, suspension, tyres and power delivery while remaining a package intended for the series-production Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package. Nürburgring says the time was recorded under its standard procedure for official attempts: a complete lap, calibrated timing equipment, notarial supervision and a production-conformity inspection by TÜV Rheinland.

The 6:55.533 lap is more than nine seconds quicker than the previous record in the class and roughly 12 seconds faster than Kern's earlier benchmark in a Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package. Porsche says the revised aerodynamics can generate more than three times the downforce of the standard configuration, reaching as much as 740 kg at 310 km/h in the track-only high-downforce setup.

The drivetrain has also been altered. Continuous output is listed at 600 kW, 20 kW above the standard car, while Attack Mode provides a short additional boost. The kit also includes new bodywork elements, revised suspension tuning and a dedicated wheel-and-tyre package developed with circuit use in mind.

What makes the lap especially relevant is the nature of the project. Porsche did not replace the Taycan with a one-off prototype built solely for a record attempt. The Manthey Kit is intended to be offered as a retrofit package for existing Taycan Turbo GT models with Weissach Package. The lap therefore doubles as a demonstration of hardware customers will actually be able to order, rather than a showcase for a car that exists only in a timing sheet.
