No. 8 Toyota TR010 Hybrid wins on debut at Imola

Toyota opened the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship season with victory for the new-look TR010 Hybrid. The No. 8 car of Sébastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley and Ryo Hirakawa won the 6 Hours of Imola in the revised Hypercar's first race.

Buemi took the chequered flag ahead of the No. 51 Ferrari 499P shared by Antonio Giovinazzi, James Calado and Alessandro Pier Guidi. Toyota's No. 7 entry, driven by Nyck de Vries, Mike Conway and Kamui Kobayashi, completed the podium. The championship reported an attendance of 92,175 spectators.

The result carried extra weight for Toyota. Imola marked the manufacturer's 100th WEC race, and the win ended a victory drought stretching back to the 2024 8 Hours of Bahrain. It also gave the TR010 Hybrid a debut victory on Ferrari's home ground.

For 2026 Toyota changed both the appearance and designation of its Hypercar, moving on from the GR010 Hybrid name used in previous seasons. Winning the opening round does not settle the competitive order for the year, but it gives the team maximum points immediately and shows that the revised package was capable of fighting at the front from its first start.
