BMW M Team WRT won the FIA World Endurance Championship's six-hour race at Interlagos on July 12. The No. 15 BMW M Hybrid V8 driven by Kevin Magnussen, Raffaele Marciello and Dries Vanthoor finished 2.254 seconds ahead of the No. 51 Ferrari 499P. The No. 12 Cadillac V-Series.R completed the podium, 6.687 seconds behind the winner.
It was the crew's first FIA WEC victory and BMW's second win of the 2026 season. The M Hybrid V8 started fourth and spent much of the six-hour race fighting Ferrari, Cadillac and Alpine. Long-run pace and the timing of the final fuel stops ultimately decided the result.
In the closing phase, the No. 51 Ferrari of James Calado, Alessandro Pier Guidi and Antonio Giovinazzi kept the pressure on BMW. Vanthoor held the lead despite reporting that he felt unwell over the radio. Less than seven seconds covered the top three at the finish, a sharp contrast with Cadillac's dominant São Paulo result a year earlier.
The race ran for 242 laps. The second JOTA Cadillac, the privately entered No. 83 Ferrari 499P and both THOR Aston Martin Valkyries also finished inside the top ten. Toyota arrived in Brazil after winning Le Mans but endured a difficult weekend and ended the race outside the top ten.
The Interlagos result strengthened BMW's position at the midpoint of the WEC season and showed that the M Hybrid V8 could convert its pace into another victory on a very different circuit. For Magnussen, Marciello and Vanthoor, it was also their first shared win in the World Endurance Championship.
