The Lamborghini Temerario GT3 earned its first IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship victory, and its first race win in North America, at Road America on August 2. Pfaff Motorsports' No. 9 car won the GTD PRO class in the six-hour endurance race with Andrea Caldarelli and Sandy Mitchell sharing the driving.
Pfaff started eighth and moved the car toward the front early. Strategy became increasingly important as repeated full-course cautions reshaped the order, while an improved brake package introduced for Road America gave the drivers more confidence. IMSA specifically noted that the update helped the new Lamborghini reach its first championship victory.
The finish did not become a conventional flat-out fight to the flag. A late series of cautions left the race ending behind the safety car. AO Racing's Porsche 911 GT3 R finished second in GTD PRO, with the Pratt Miller Motorsports Corvette Z06 GT3.R third.
The result also ended a long dry spell for Pfaff. The Canadian team had not won an IMSA race since the Twelve Hours of Sebring in March 2023, a 36-race winless run. For Mitchell, the Road America result was his first WeatherTech Championship victory.
The Temerario GT3 made its worldwide competition debut at the Twelve Hours of Sebring in March 2026. It later reached the podium on the streets of Detroit before the Road America breakthrough. The win therefore arrived relatively early in the car's first season, but after enough racing to show a clear development curve rather than a one-off launch result.
