Gordon Murray Special Vehicles has revealed the S1, a 64-car supercar developed from the S1 LM platform but retuned for fast road use and long-distance touring. It keeps the central driving position, naturally aspirated V12 and manual gearbox while removing some of the LM's most track-focused features.
Cosworth supplies a bespoke 4.2-liter naturally aspirated V12 producing up to 690 PS at 12,100 rpm. It is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox with a touring-oriented sixth ratio. Gordon Murray also says 80 percent of the engine's torque is available from 2,500 rpm, with roughly 500 Nm delivered at 7,000 rpm.
The body is more than an S1 LM with its large wing deleted. Every exterior panel is new. An integrated active rear aerodynamic system replaces the fixed wing, while the lightweight suspension architecture is retained with road-focused damping and a 10 mm increase in ride height.
The three-seat cabin keeps the driver in the center, one of Gordon Murray's most recognizable packaging choices. The S1 adds richer materials, more acoustic insulation, touring-oriented seats and a bespoke audio system. Despite those additions, the company is targeting an overall weight below that of the T.50.
Only 64 S1s will be produced worldwide, and each will be individually commissioned by its owner. Gordon Murray did not disclose pricing at the Monterey reveal.
