Genesis Magma Racing has revealed the final form of the GMR-001 Hypercar prepared for the marque's first FIA World Endurance Championship season. Built to LMDh regulations with chassis partner ORECA, the car combines prototype aerodynamic requirements with recognisable Genesis design elements, including the brand's Two-Line headlamps.
Its powertrain centres on a 3.2-litre twin-turbo V8 developed using technology from Hyundai Motorsport's WRC engine programme. The first engine fired in February 2025, while the chassis and powertrain were brought together in August. Track testing began later that month.
By the time of the March reveal, Genesis said the GMR-001 had completed nearly 25,000 km of testing on circuits representative of the WEC calendar. One engine covered almost 9,000 km. The programme included night running and wet-weather work, with the team initially prioritising reliability and the ability to produce consistent performance within Hypercar regulations.
GMR-001 is the car with which Genesis begins its first factory racing programme on this scale. FIA WEC describes Genesis as the first Korean manufacturer to enter the series. The reveal therefore marked more than a livery launch: it presented the developed race car, complete with Korean hangeul graphics, after an intensive validation programme and ahead of regular competition in the championship.
