Ferrari 499P number 83 wins Le Mans with Robert Kubica

AF Corse's number 83 Ferrari 499P has won the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans. Robert Kubica, Philip Hanson and Yifei Ye beat the factory Ferraris and Porsche to give Maranello a third consecutive overall victory in the world's most important endurance race.

It was the first privateer overall win at Le Mans in two decades. The yellow 499P started only 13th, but combined strong pace and strategy with the penalties and setbacks suffered by its rivals. Kubica completed 43 percent of the winning car's laps and drove five consecutive stints at the end of the race. The crew finished 14 seconds ahead of the number 6 Porsche 963.

The result also carried unusual personal significance. Kubica became the first Polish driver to win Le Mans outright, while Ye became the first Chinese driver to achieve the same result. Hanson added an overall victory to the LMP2 class win he had already earned in 2020.

Ferrari won on its top-class return in 2023, repeated the result in 2024 and then completed the hat-trick in 2025 with a third different crew and car. The privateer number 83 victory also showed that the 499P programme had competitive depth beyond the two factory-entered machines.
