CYVN acquires McLaren Automotive and combines it with Forseven

Abu Dhabi-based CYVN Holdings has completed its acquisition of McLaren Automotive and taken a non-controlling stake in McLaren Racing. At the same time, the investor announced that the road-car company would be combined with British start-up Forseven under a new McLaren Group Holdings structure.

The new group is led by Nick Collins, previously chief executive of Forseven. It includes McLaren Automotive, Forseven, CYVN's interest in McLaren Racing and McLaren Licensing. For the Woking carmaker, the deal represents a major ownership reset after years of losses, restructuring and repeated capital injections.

CYVN said McLaren's product portfolio would expand into new categories. It also pointed to technology and expertise available through its other investments, including NIO and Gordon Murray Technologies, which CYVN had acquired earlier as part of its engineering and lightweighting strategy.

The transaction therefore goes beyond a simple change of shareholder. McLaren Automotive has been combined with a clean-sheet vehicle project and placed under an owner that says it will fund a broader product transformation. That creates a route toward models outside McLaren's traditional supercar range while keeping the racing operation as a separate, non-wholly-controlled part of the wider group.
