Cadillac has introduced a Japan-exclusive Escalade special edition with a production allocation of just 20 vehicles. Announced by General Motors Japan on October 29, the NOIR EDITION is priced at ¥21 million including Japanese consumption tax. It is based on the Escalade Sport and focuses on a distinctive combination of matte and gloss-black exterior finishes rather than mechanical changes.
The underlying paint is Black Raven, but much of the body has been given a different surface treatment. XPEL STEALTH matte paint-protection film covers the hood, body sides and tailgate. Gloss-black sections, including the grille surround and lower bodywork, create the contrast. The roof and selected other surfaces are also excluded from the matte-film treatment. The film is applied by XPEL Japan, according to the Japanese launch information.
Unlike a purely decorative wrap, paint-protection film is intended to shield the finish from minor scratches, stone chips and UV exposure. Its practical function is a secondary part of the appeal here: the mixed textures change how the black paint catches the light without changing the Escalade's basic bodywork. The edition also receives 22-inch, 18-spoke alloy wheels with an After Midnight finish.
The interior is finished in Jet Black and carries a NOIR EDITION ornament in front of the passenger seat. Special floor mats add silver piping and an edition-specific nameplate. These details are modest, but they provide a clear identification for a model that will be sold in particularly small numbers.
The vehicle retains the Japanese-market Sport model's naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8, rated at 306 kW and 624 Nm of torque, driving through a ten-speed automatic transmission and selectable four-wheel drive. It seats seven and is supplied with left-hand drive. At 5,400 mm long and 2,065 mm wide, the Escalade remains a substantial full-size SUV even by the standards of Japan's luxury market.
There is no announced engine upgrade or chassis re-engineering for this edition. Its distinguishing features are a manufacturer-specified exterior treatment, a few bespoke cabin details and a tightly capped Japanese allocation. That makes NOIR EDITION a regional collectible specification rather than a new performance variant.
