Bugatti F.K.P. Hommage revives the Veyron shape on the latest W16 platform

Bugatti has unveiled the F.K.P. Hommage, the second car created under its Programme Solitaire. The one-off pays tribute to both the Veyron and Ferdinand Karl Piëch, but it is not a reconstruction of the earlier model. Beneath bodywork inspired by the original sits the most developed version of Bugatti's W16-era platform.

The design preserves the Veyron's distinctive reclining stance and falling beltline while redrawing every surface. Its three-dimensional horseshoe grille is machined from solid aluminium, the front air intakes are larger, and 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels use current Michelin tyre technology. The red finish gains depth from a silver aluminium base beneath a tinted clear coat.

Mechanically, the F.K.P. Hommage uses Bugatti's 1,600 hp quad-turbo W16 specification together with a reinforced dual-clutch gearbox and updated cooling, thermodynamic and aerodynamic systems. Bugatti says the intention was to combine the proportions of the original Veyron with two decades of development around the W16 architecture.

The cabin is not a Chiron interior with different trim. A circular steering wheel echoes the Veyron, while the centre console and tunnel cover are machined from solid aluminium. The dashboard incorporates an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Tourbillon requested by the owner. Its mechanical watch sits in a rotating gondola driven by vehicle movement rather than an electrical connection.

Programme Solitaire is intended to produce no more than two bespoke creations per year. That makes F.K.P. Hommage different from a conventional limited edition: it is a single car that uses existing Bugatti engineering as the basis for comprehensively new bodywork, cabin details and personalisation.
