Bugatti Brouillard launches Programme Solitaire for one-off cars

Bugatti has launched Programme Solitaire, a new programme dedicated to fully individual one-off cars. Its first project is Brouillard, a single commissioned coupé named after Ettore Bugatti's favourite horse.

Solitaire goes beyond the marque's existing Sur Mesure programme. Rather than choosing materials and colours for an established model, the client receives a car with its own body and much more extensively reworked design. Bugatti explicitly links the approach to its pre-war coachbuilding tradition and says the number of such projects will remain extremely small.

Brouillard uses Bugatti's proven W16 architecture but wears entirely new bodywork. The design avoids hard creases in favour of flowing reflective surfaces, while a fixed glass roof and a central spine continue visually into the cabin. The interior mixes bespoke fabrics, carbon fibre and components created specifically for the car.

The important development is the scale of personalisation. Programme Solitaire formalises a level below limited-series production: each vehicle is intended to be its own design project rather than a special configuration of an existing car. Brouillard is the first physical example of that strategy and another way for Bugatti to use its mature W16 platform while the company moves into the Tourbillon era.
