Bentley Torcal opens the marque's EV era with up to 876 bhp

Bentley has revealed the Torcal, its first series-production electric car and the first completely new Bentley model in a decade. The SUV creates a fourth model line for the marque and will launch in two forms, Torcal and the more performance-focused Torcal S.

Bentley quotes 876 bhp, 653 kW and 1,350 Nm for the S with launch control active, making it the most powerful production Bentley yet. The company is positioning the S as the sharper version of the pair, while the standard Torcal remains a full luxury SUV rather than a stripped-back entry EV.

Autocar reports that both versions use a 108 kWh battery and the PPE architecture that also underpins the electric Porsche Cayenne. The standard car is expected to offer around 375 miles of range. UK prices start at £173,300 for the Torcal and £199,300 for the Torcal S.

At roughly five metres long, the new model is about 135 mm shorter than the Bentayga and is intended to be a slightly more urban proposition. The cabin combines curved displays with traditional veneers and luxury upholstery, while Bentley Dynamic Symphony uses recordings of real musical instruments to create an EV-specific soundscape rather than simply copying a combustion-engine note.

Production is due to begin in Crewe by the end of 2026. Autocar says the factory has undergone a £350 million investment programme so electric and combustion-engined cars can be built in sequence at the same site.

The Torcal is therefore more than another luxury SUV launch. It is the first production model in which Bentley has to translate its established mix of hand-finished craftsmanship and GT performance onto a fully electric architecture, while keeping the car recognisably separate from other PPE-based models in the Volkswagen Group.
