Angelelli reveals Tipo 829 project in Terra, Strada and Pista forms

Rome-based Angelelli Automobili revealed the Tipo 829 project on October 3, outlining three planned versions called Terra, Strada and Pista. Terra is the first to be shown in detail. It is conceived as a modern interpretation of a rally machine, with an emphasis on compact dimensions, driver involvement and performance on surfaces with varying grip. Angelelli has already opened the Terra program to commissions, even though development is still underway.

The company currently describes Terra with a 3.2-liter six-cylinder engine producing 500 hp. Italian reporting identifies the engine as a V6 and puts output at about 500 CV. Angelelli also says the program will combine extensive customization with highly limited production, but it has not disclosed a production total. Those figures should still be treated as development-stage specifications rather than final homologated data.

The three versions are intended to share the same basic project while serving different purposes. Terra takes the mixed-surface, rally-inspired direction, Strada is meant for road use, and Pista is the track-focused branch. Terra is the most concrete of the three so far. Full specifications and production details for Strada and Pista have not yet been released.

The Tipo 829 name carries a deliberate historical reference. Tipo 829 was also the development code associated with the Lancia Stratos HF. Angelelli has not claimed a direct technical connection to the Stratos, so the link should be read as a naming and conceptual reference, reinforced by Terra's rally theme rather than by shared engineering.

The new project also reflects Davide Angelelli's long collaboration with engineer Nicola Materazzi. Angelelli describes Tipo 829 as the third chapter in a sequence of projects developed from seven years of work, following Hintegrale and Effequaranta. Important details remain open: there is no announced price, final performance data, production timetable or first-delivery date. For now, Tipo 829 is best understood as a highly limited project moving through development, not a fully specified production car ready for delivery.
