Alpine previews PS1 concept ahead of Paris Motor Show debut

Alpine has confirmed a new concept called PS1, short for Projet Spécial 1. The full reveal is scheduled for 09:20 CEST on October 12 at the Mondial de l'Auto in Paris. For now, the manufacturer has released only a glimpse of one headlamp and has not disclosed technical specifications.

The name is more than an internal prototype code. Alpine places PS1 in the "special projects" pillar of its product strategy, alongside the "Extraordinary Everyday" and "Icons" groups. That positions the car as an exploration of the more experimental side of the brand rather than simply another version of an existing production model. Alpine has not yet said what powers it, how large it is or whether any form of production is planned.

The first image concentrates on the lighting and leaves the rest of the body largely concealed. Alpine explicitly describes the headlamp as the sole clue before the unveiling, with full details reserved for the Paris presentation.

PS1 will be one of four major elements in Alpine's show display. It will appear alongside the A110 Sculpture, an artistic preview of the third-generation A110 based on the foundations of the new Alpine Performance Platform. The company will also expand its personalisation programme for the A290 and A390 with additional colours, trims and finishes.

At this stage, PS1 is therefore a confirmed direction rather than a fully explained car. The substantive news is the existence of the project, its place in Alpine's product structure and a fixed date for its public debut. Questions about performance, propulsion and any possible production plan remain open until the October 12 reveal.
