Hennessey Venom GT

The Venom GT produced more than 1,200 hp while weighing roughly 2,700 lb, giving it an extreme power-to-weight ratio.

The most powerful Venom GT versions used a 7.0-litre V8 with twin turbochargers.

In 2016 the Venom GT Spyder reached about 265.6 mph, which Hennessey promoted at the time as a production-convertible speed record.

The 0–300 km/h record attempt was conducted at Ellington Airport in Texas.

On 10 January 2013 the Venom GT set a Guinness record for 0–300 km/h acceleration with a time of 13.63 seconds.

The 270.49 mph attempt was made in one direction, so it did not meet the two-way-average requirement used for some official speed records.

In February 2014 a Venom GT reached 270.49 mph on the Space Shuttle runway at Kennedy Space Center.

Hennessey built a total of 13 Venom GTs across Coupe and Spyder versions.

Experience from the small Venom GT programme became a stepping stone toward the clean-sheet Venom F5.

The Venom GT combined a heavily modified lightweight Lotus-derived architecture with an American V8 engine.
